UPDATE: Turns out, per the A/C shop, the "suction hose" on the underside of the vehicle has holes in it ................... the shop will do the replacing for ~ $300.00-400.00 - the hose itself, they want to charge over $250.00 for - M. found some on eBay for ~ $40.00 ...................
I don't prepare it, since my spousal unit isn't too much for any fowl - unless it's skin-on, salt-soaked, batter-dipped {repeatedly} deep fried chicken - he's eating more chicken, as both of us have had rises in our cholesterol levels - but if it's HIS choice, it's a rare steak, baked potato with butter, MAYBE a salad ........................ ;-)
But, ya gotta admit, that young Tom I'm holding IS ........................ unusual .......................... ;-)
And M. is trying to get our friend's mother's A/C working - after several hours of the two of them taking things apart, sending me for 'stuff', etc., it still wasn't holding an R134 charge, so our friend's mother has to take it for diagnostics - M. DID find a complete replacement 'set' {from the firewall forward in the engine compartment} on eBay for $299.00 ............................

I love the whole Thanksgiving meal.It's the only time of year where my in-laws all come home and we get to visit. Good food and family is the best for me.
I prepared the entire meal every year and hubby takes all kinds of turkey for lunches.

Have the boys pressureize everything with air, to about 120psig and soap test EVERYTHING. Sounds like O rings.
OK, my spousal unit is experiencing difficulty posting his commentary, so he eMailed me - here's his comments ;-)
I'M the poor abused spousal unit of DM who makes me go help our friends when they have problems with vehicles, computers and other assorted mechanical devices. Anyway thanks for the advice on pressuring the system but the suction line is blown. I did not have my ramps and jack stands with me to crawl under the vehicle but the line runs down by the transmission due to the location of the compressor and after I ran a little sealant and a partial charge to make sure the compressor would cycle the whole bottom of the engine was coated with oil and my manifold gages went from normal pressure on the low and low pressure on the high to zero pressure on both sides. The main reason I am willing to help out where I can is our friends mom is on fixed income and I have seen some of the shops around here play the parts changing game until the problem is fixed and you have a big bill to pay because they did not identify the real problem up front. Next step for me is to pull that line and see what I see and if the line is bad I will get another one plus a new drier, flush the rest of the system, replace all of the o-rings, suck the system down and make sure its holding and then recharge the system with 134. You really don't want to know how much fun it was to replace the the broken vacuum line from the engine to the dash board controls. FORD was kind enough to route it next to the evaporator input line and feeding a new line up and over the under dash unit was just loads of fun. Now to find time to fix the porch rails for another little old lady. As an aside I charge nothing for this work except cost of materials and I have been known to eat those under the right circumstances. This is my way of giving to those less fortunate or who have no family to turn to.
